The Hour of Hush and Wonder

Gage Gallery Exhibition - March 29 - April 17, 2022

I believe we all need a bit of “hush and wonder” in our lives, so I painted these local scenes to bring not only tranquility to the viewer, but also a glimpse of hope, magic and beauty that we all crave. We are all looking for a connection to our communities and this show reminds of us of the local spots that we like to visit with our families, friends and visitors. Additionally, I want these paintings to remind the viewer that we are so lucky to be alive to experience the liminal wonders of the universe as we go through the transformation of day to night.  The transformation to the magic hour, the violet hour, the hour of hush and wonder!

Bernard DeVoto, The Hour

"This is the violet hour, the hour of hush and wonder, when the affectations glow and valor is reborn, when the shadows deepen along the edge of the forest and we believe that, if we watch carefully, at any moment we may see the unicorn."
